Welcome to Skribo ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application.

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Application includes:
Personal Data
While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:
- Google Account Information: When you sign in using Google, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture as provided by Google.
Derivative Data
Information our servers automatically collect when you access the Application, such as:
- Audio Files: We collect the audio files you upload for the purpose of transcription. These files are stored securely in Firebase Storage.
- Transcription Data: We collect the text transcriptions generated from your audio files. This data is stored securely in Firebase Firestore.
2. Use of Your Information
Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Application to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Provide the core transcription service.
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Application.
- Process your transcription jobs and store the results for your access.
3. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not share, sell, rent or trade your information with any third parties for their commercial purposes.
We may share information about you in the following situations:
- With Third-Party Service Providers: We may share your data with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. This includes:
- Google's Gemini API: We send the audio data you upload to the Gemini API to perform the transcription. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of Google. We encourage you to review their privacy policy.
- Firebase (by Google): Our application's backend, database, and storage are hosted on Firebase. Your data is stored in their infrastructure.
- By Law or to Protect Rights: If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
4. Security of Your Information
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information.
- Your data, including audio files and transcriptions, is stored in your own user-specific, access-controlled area within our Firebase project.
- We employ Firebase Security Rules that strictly prohibit any user, including authenticated users, from accessing another user's data. Only you can access your data through the application.
- Server-side processes (Firebase Functions) that access your data to perform transcription do so using administrative privileges, which bypass user-specific rules, but this access is limited solely to the processing of your job.
- All administrative data access is logged in an audit trail system, recording who accessed what data and when.
While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.
5. User Data Access and Control
You have the right to access and delete your data at any time through the application's interface. If you terminate your account, we will permanently delete all your data, including audio files and transcriptions, from our systems.
6. Policy for Children
We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13. If you become aware of any data we have collected from children under age 13, please contact us using the contact information provided below.
